Google Earth software

To get started exploring the world, download the free version of Google Earth (GE).

For more advanced features including built-in GIS tools, better imagery resolution, the ability to make movies, and exclusive datasets, consider purchasing Google Earth Pro (currently $399, but there is also a 7 day free trial).

Qualified educators and non-profits can apply for a free Google Earth Pro license.

Google Earth in Academia

Want to use a screenshot or saved image from Google Earth in your academic publication? Check out Google's Permission Tool first to see if your intended use requires a copyright permission request to Google. To learn more about U.S. copyright issues, see the Digital Services and Scholarly Communication LibGuide.
